Wendy's Chili is not on my mind right now because the weather is rapidly cooling down. This faux recipe is actually a point in it when I tried it on an unsuspecting family member who loves it, to which she replied, "If I have Wendy's, where's my frosting!"

I also like to serve it with jalapeño cornbread.

Wendy's Chili sounds like a difficult recipe, but honestly the hardest part is waiting for the food to cook long and slow. In fact, here are some tips and tricks to make this chili recipe perfect.

Add a tablespoon of butter at the end of cooking. It helps to freshen the flavors and provide the best texture. Adds richness with minimal calories (just a tablespoon for the whole bowl!).

Cook on "low heat" less and "low" generally. Simmering is only for the smallest bubbles.

If you see that your chili doesn't look the way it does underneath, it could be that it's too high a temperature that has evaporated too much water or it's too low and too much water remains.

If you are worried about it cooking, stir it often. You will be able to feel if the chili sticks to the pan.
